We take our role and responsibility in society seriously and will not compromise.
From who we purchase from, how we deal with our colleagues to our reach in our local communities, our impact on our environment is woven into the fabric of our business on a day to day basis.
Our Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) strategy incorporates internal initiatives such as sustainable sourcing, zero waste targets, biodegradable disposables, reusables and healthy eating.
Designed with the environment in mind
The Sea Containers building incorporates a number of sustainable features, specific initiatives include:
- ISO14001 accreditation
- 4-star BREEAM certified
- Energy efficient LED lighting in all core areas
- Movement sensitive lighting controls
- Lift management software
- 100% of our electricity is from renewable sources
- Aqueous Ozone Based chemical free cleaning solution in the building
- Zero waste to landfill
- Wildflower garden on the Roof Terrace
Sustainable sourcing
- Where possible, we only use domestic and local producers as opposed to importing goods.
- Our food requirements are simple. We look for seasonal, indigenous and well managed crops.
- Our producer or supplier must have a genuine passion for what they do, be knowledgeable, direct and complementary to our business.
- Our suppliers must be transparent in the information they provide us so we can pass on exact details to our customers allowing them to make informed choices on the food they are purchasing.
- Our suppliers must avoid purchasing or supplying produce or services that have been created using processes known to damage the environment.
- By owning our own farm in Northumberland, we are able to drastically reduce our carbon footprint. The animals are born on the farm and only leave the farm when it’s time to go to slaughter.
